Untreated Hearing Loss Reduces Access to Health Care

Research has shown that adults with hearing loss commonly have chronic disease such as heart disease and diabetes, as well as poorer self-reported health. They are more often likely to be readmitted within 30 days after a hospitalization. All of this leads to higher health care costs for patients with hearing loss. There are many steps practitioners, hospital leaders and public health experts can take to build awareness and support patients.
