Untreated Hearing Loss Reduces Access to Health Care
The National Indicator Report on Hearing Loss presents the current estimates of bilateral hearing loss prevalence in the US at the national, state, and county levels. The Report first provides an overview of hearing loss, including the different types of hearing loss and their causes, the impacts of hearing loss, and the need for hearing loss prevalence estimates at the state and county levels. The Report then briefly presents how these new estimates were developed and presents the key results. The Report then summarizes hearing loss prevention strategies, how hearing is evaluated, existing hearing screening programs, the various types of assistance for hearing loss, links to additional hearing loss resources, and finally where future hearing loss efforts could be focused.
